Press Release: Sturgeon and Wood, the undisputed leaders of yesterday’s “leaders debate”

We have welcomed that the yesterday’s “leaders debate” on the British ITV channel would have refused to perpetuate the Westminster bipartidism allowing to participate in it not only the mainstream UK parties but also the most representative parties from Wales and Scotland. We of course fully support the candidates of SNP and Plaid Cymru, which represented the only real alternative to the centralised austerity that the Conservatives, Labourists and Liberaldemocrats are displaying against the people. We also want to offer our keen support to all the parties, as Mebyon Kernow, which hadn’t the opportunity to express themselves in this debate.
It’s also relevant to mention that Nicola Sturgeon and Leanne Wood, who will be very likely remembered as the most assertive candidates in this debate (they also received the highest popularity rates), were, together with the greens representative, some of the few female leaders in the UK.
They both clearly putted forward the will of the people for self determination and the need for a greater focus on youth. They also enthusiastically fought against UKIP’s Nigel Farage’s xenophobic stance as well, running against his “Real British first” proposals in health care and social services.
We hope that this excellent performance will be confirmed in the polling stations so the voice of the people’s could not only be heard from the media but also in Westminster.
